Young, gifted and broke

If you are young, gifted and broke then the Intergenerational Foundation (in association with The Guardian and the National Union of Students) want to hear from you.

This advert  is for a film competition set up by these organizations.

Although the article starts by inviting short films on what it is to be young person in the UK today, it then positions this competition as about ‘being young, gifted and broke’.

This makes quite a presumption, and seems to exclude those who are young, gifted and not broke – as well as those who are old, gifted and broke and those who are not gifted.  Why this particular combination of attributes?

It’s also a sign of the times that one of the prizes is 2 weeks work experience.
