The ‘job-hogging over-50s’ and what to do with them

by on April 27, 2012

A highly controversial piece written by Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times has appeared in the BBC News Magazine here . It is illustrated with a similarly controversial image of an older worker too.

It suggests – perhaps in a way that was not intended to be taken entirely seriously, perhaps not – that the ‘job-hogging over 50s’ should all resign in order to solve the problem of insufficient jobs.

The article – not surprisingly – has clocked up over a thousand comments in the few hours since it was published. These offer interesting views on age discrimination and the idea of different generations competing for jobs.
