The Madonna generation
The latest Work Audit from CIPD (available to download from here) looks at age and gender in the current employment climate.
It charts the relative success of older women (aged 50-64 and over 65) during the economic downturn. This group – and men over 65 – are the only groups which have higher numbers in work and employment rates since the start of the recession. They have also have the lowest increases in unemployment.
In this piece in The Guardian it calls older women the ‘Madonna generation’.
