Work longer, live on less
More from the evidence being given to the House of Lords Committee on Public Service and Demographic Change, as reported here in The Independent.
Sir Bob Kerslake, head of the Civil Service, criticised the failure thus far to have an “honest debate” about pensions funding. In his view it was “absolutely clear” that people would have to work for longer to fund their retirement, that the pension age would have to rise and that people would have to live on less in retirement.
It’s not exactly cheery news – we’ll have to look for something more seasonal for our pre-Christmas blog post…
