Over the hill at 27?

Yes, if you work in Social Media, apparently.

This was the provocative conclusion in a recent piece by Cathryn Sloan at the University of Iowa entitled “Why Every Social Media Manager Should Be Under 25″.

Needless to say this has generated plenty of rebuttals and responses including this article.  What’s particularly interesting is the way in which the concept of ‘generations’ is used unproblematically as the basis for differences between people and, in the latter piece, that these differences are ‘natural and inherent’.
