BBC Countryfile age discrimination case back in the headlines

by on March 18, 2014

The Daily Mail reports today that the age discrimination case successfully won by former Countryfile presenter Miriam O’Reilly is back in the news after reported comments by Julia Bradbury, also a former countryfile presenter.  The article, under the headline ‘Countryfile Women at War’ suggests that an argument – in part via twitter – has broken out over comments made in a recent interview suggesting “that Miss O’Reilly’s departure from  Countryfile in 2009 was simply a result of planned changes to the show’s format rather than discrimination”.

As this was a landmark case for those campaigning for older women in the media in particular it will be interesting to see how this debate develops over the coming days.
