The continuing state of youth unemployment
This opinion piece by David Blanchflower in Sunday’s Independent continues to draw attention to youth unemployment in the UK.
This is something of a continuing theme for the author; readers of the New Statesman will recognise this from a number of his Economics Columns given over to this issue.
One of the points he makes is about the scarring effects on being unemployed when young. In this latest piece, he cites the this recent report commissioned by the Prince’s Trust which outlines the self-reported effect on young people of being out of work.
