“I don’t play golf” Increasing trend for older entreprenuers in the US sunshine state

This story reports on the rise of older entrepreneurs, providing individual stories of those who have started up their businesses when over the age of 50.  It also contains some broad claims: “Baby boomers are more educated and probably more entrepreneurial than earlier generations,” which perhaps warrant more scrutiny than this newspaper report allows.  However what seems particularly interesting in this piece is the nature of the start-ups in the Florida which includes  companies that develop software, manage logistics for transportation of products such as medical devices, and do advanced engineering.  The technological nature of many of these start-ups by the over 50’s seems to go against the popular stereotype of technophobes associated with older people
