Youth Employment programmes review

by on January 8, 2014

We only recently came across this review of best practice in and learning from youth employment programmes in developing countries which is authored by Nathan Associates.   This literature review draws on much recent literature to summarise the current understandings of these issues, particularly utilising available research from the World Bank.  It highlights that the majority of youth employment programmes are training based and that, according to this summary, nearly half of all programmes are not evaluated.  The report suggest that there is a growing trend for multi-initiative schemes which are moving beyond classroom based training and may also include grants and wage subsidies.
