EU Youth Conference 2013, Ireland

by on March 28, 2013

The UK Young Ambassadors’ website features this article on the recent EU Youth Conference held in Ireland.

As reported, the conference aim was to produce recommendations on the topic of social inclusion and youth for the EU Parliament, EU Member States and wider policy makers at the European Union.

Unsurprisingly, youth unemployment was identified as one of the main factors that inhibited young people from feeling included in society. The conference developed a number of joint recommendations under the following 7 themes:

  • Employment Leads to Inclusion
  • Inclusive Education for All Young people
  • Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities to Participate in Civic Life
  • Access to Welfare
  • Social and Youth Services for Young People
  • Youth Organisations and Social Inclusion
  • Assuring Quality in Youth Work to Ensure Social Inclusion

The full list of recommendations is here. As with other initiatives that focus on one chronolgical age group, it would be hard to argue with these themes as being equally applicable to people of all ages.
