Decent Work – what does it mean for people of all ages?

by on March 20, 2013

The ILO’s Executive Director for Employment, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs has talked of the need for a call for action for older workers similar to the one for young people in light of population ageing.

In June 2013 the 102nd Session of the International Labour Conference will be held in Geneva. Two of the items for general discussion are ‘employment and social protection in the new demographic context’ and ‘sustainable development, decent work and green jobs’.

This follows the introduction the ILO’s Decent Work Agenda (link to website here).

The ILO’s Youth Employment Programme has been asking its Twitter followers what decent work means for them. The ILO is set to launch its #DW4Y platform in April so it would be really interesting to hear what decent work means for people of all ages.
