Work your proper hours day
Today is ‘Work your proper hours day’ which marks the widespread tendency for many people to spend longer at work than their ‘official’ hours.
To mark this, the TUC has released analysis of the latest figures on unpaid overtime which show that those most likely to do this are workers in their 30s. They report that ‘the proportion of workers in their early 20s doing unpaid overtime has fallen by 36 per cent in the last decade, while the likelihood of workers in their early 60s doing unpaid overtime has increased by 45 per cent’. They suggest that this reflects the fact that more people are working past traditional retirement age.
